Now the aim will be Royal Ascot’s newest Group One contest, the Commonwealth Cup, which was run for the first time in 2015 and won by Muhaarar.

“I thought we had it won easily and then when the camera angle changed and there was another 200 metres to run, I slightly had my heart in my mouth.”

While Costello added, “It is nice to get the first Group winner under the belt. Karl has been brilliant and put me under no pressure. She just does everything so easily.”
